Science can explain and prove many phenomena that occur on Earth. The truth is that it is our ultimate tool when we have questions about our natural world. However, sometimes we come across events that even science cannot explain. While we are constantly learning about how our world works, sometimes we come across “manifestations” that are beyond our comprehension and force us into the realm of speculation.
From jelly falling from the sky to inexplicable explosions, our skies show us that in the 21st century there are still truly disconcerting phenomena. And this is what has happened in a Russian city, where the inhabitants witnessed the impossible.
Strange clouds over Irkutsk
Two strange ring-shaped clouds appeared over the city of Irkutsk, Russia, before a third ring emerged from nowhere, causing all kinds of reactions among its inhabitants. One of the videos posted to social media shows two disc-shaped clouds floating by before a third one suddenly appears. Towards the end of the video, a plane is seen heading towards the rings of the sky and piercing the first circle.
Local media said a fourth ring appeared soon after. The incident was recorded in the city of Irkutsk, in Irkutsk Oblast, by numerous residents, and the footage was later widely shared on social media. The unusual phenomenon has sparked discussions among netizens that it is a UFO sighting and even that it was an apocalyptic sign caused by the Wuhan coronavirus.
“Some said the planes did it, but I didn’t see any planes, and the fourth circle appeared out of nowhere,” a witness said.
Some suggested that the circles could have been produced by a quadcopter or a type of drone, while others speculated that they could have been the result of secret military aircraft. Sergei Yazev, the director of the Irkutsk State University Astronomical Observatory, said the circles in the sky were likely the trails created by an aircraft. He added that several Russian media contacted the observatory asking if the rings in the sky could be the result of a UFO. It is clear what Yazev’s response was, denying that it involved UFO activity.
Although possibly the most spectacular phenomenon in Russia was the one that occurred over Moscow in 2018, when a huge saucer-shaped cloud appeared out of nowhere, sparking panic and speculation that aliens are about to invade our planet. One of the videos showed a building of about 19 floors, with an approximate height of 66 meters, and a mysterious and huge circular cloud moving over it.
You could also see how the sky was covered by a blanket of clouds, which made the images even more spectacular. In this case, Russian meteorologists said it could be an unusually shaped cumulus type, a particularly fluffy cloud at a particularly low level. Or perhaps a lenticular cloud, stationary and solitary clouds that generally form at high altitudes in mountainous areas and isolated from other clouds. And as its name suggests, it is shaped like a flying saucer or a converging lens.
As we can see, there is always a logical and rational explanation for this type of phenomenon, at least so that some people stay calm and do not think more than they should. But what really matters to us is your opinion.
