The highly anticipated Mecum Indy 2020 auction will showcase a truly unique vehicle: the Limo-Jet. This extraordinary limousine, developed based on the concept of a personal aircraft, is estimated to fetch around 1 million USD.
If you have always dreamt of flying a plane but don’t have a pilot’s license, or if you adore limousines but also crave the sensation of sitting in a private jet, then the Limo-Jet is the perfect solution for you.
Unveiled in 2018, the Limo-Jet, a limousine in the body of a plane, took the world by storm. After two years, this remarkable hybrid vehicle is now ready to be auctioned at the Mecum Indy 2020 event.
The Limo-Jet combines two seemingly unrelated modes of transportation: a limousine and a private aircraft. This groundbreaking project garnered significant media attention back in 2018, after a 12-year-long development process.
Produced by Jetsetter on the foundation of a Learjet personal aircraft, the Limo-Jet concept was conceived by Frank DeAngelo. It took 12 years to bring the first Limo-Jet to life.
This extraordinary vehicle measures approximately 12.8 meters in length, 3.5 meters in height, and 2.4 meters in width. Despite its substantial size, this one-of-a-kind limousine is street legal. However, the question remains: with its colossal design, will the Limo-Jet be granted permission to traverse public roads?
According to Frank DeAngelo, “transforming an aircraft into a car is not as simple as adding four wheels. The Learjet, being a personal aircraft, has several components that are not suitable for road operation.”

Therefore, the most challenging phase was reinforcing the aircraft body, constructing the chassis, and designing the wheel axle to make it function as a regular car. The electrical system and suspension of the Limo-Jet also posed difficulties for the engineering team throughout the vehicle’s construction process.
To complement its hefty proportions, the Limo-Jet is equipped with custom-made Diablo 28-inch wheels featuring a unique 6-spoke design. The wheels are painted in a black and red color scheme to perfectly match the overall aesthetics of the vehicle.
As a luxury limousine, the Limo-Jet boasts an exquisitely luxurious interior designed for up to 8 passengers. The aircraft-inspired vehicle features a high-end entertainment system, premium sound, and numerous luxury amenities. Additionally, the Limo-Jet is equipped with a powerful hidden speaker system located in the engine compartment.
Powering the Limo-Jet is a rear-mounted 8.1L V8 gasoline engine. According to Frank DeAngelo, the one-of-a-kind Limo-Jet can reach a top speed of 160 km/h. In 2018, the production cost of the Limo-Jet was estimated at around 1 million USD, and it was previously sold for 5 million USD. After two years, the price may have fluctuated, but it is expected to be no less than 1 million USD at the auction.
